Psalms 46:10a-"He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God." (NIV)

Do you find it difficult to be still? Is the one word used to describe your life, "Busy?" If you are anything like me, you are constantly on the go. We get up and go to work. Come home and take the kids to some kind of practice or school activity then back home for homework, baths and bed. On the weekends it is similar but this time you are doing chores around the house and errands to get ready for the next week. It is no wonder we are tired and exhausted. How do we get out of this cycle and find rest and encouragement?

The writer in Psalms 46 says, "Being Still, We can know God" who will bring order, rest and balance in our lives. How can I fit a time to come before the Lord and allow him to order my steps each day? Two words come to mind. They are Priority and Disciple. I know you have come to hate these words. But let me encourage you. Making time to come before the Lord is not adding another task but getting together with a close friend. God does not want anything from us except our presence. Just taking some time each day to just hang out with Him will get your life back into proper balance.

I want to ask you to take fifteen minutes every day just to sit in a quiet place with no distractions and do nothing but listen. Just open up your heart and mind and ask God to speak to you. His words may come to us as a thought, a scripture verse, a song or maybe something your pastor said in their sermon on Sunday. When you receive this word then just think about it and ask God to reveal what it means and how you need to respond to it. If you don't hear anything, just thank God for the time and go back the next day and do the same thing. I assure you that as you quiet your mind and thoughts each day, the Lord will give you a word which will help you know Him more.

God desires to have you spend some quality time with Him each day. He always has something to share with us that will encourage and strengthen our lives. We just have to place ourselves in a position to hear. The only way we can hear is to be still. Today I give you permission to just be quiet in the presence of the Lord. Rest in just being with the Lord. I promise you when you spend at least fifteen minutes a day with Jesus, He will change your life.

Prayer-Dear Lord Jesus, Help me to learn the disciple of being still before you. I commit to spending at least fifteen minutes a day listening and resting in your presence. Help me find a quiet place where there are no distractions. I can't wait to hear from you every day. Thank you for teaching me to be still so that I can know you better. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
